Zofran Birth Defects Lawsuit Center Website Launches

National pharmaceutical and medical device law firm provides comprehensive Zofran fetal risk information and no-cost, confidential case review to families whose baby was born with a birth defect following exposure to Zofran.

Wednesday, February 18, 2015 - Attorneys accepting Zofran lawsuit claims launch the Zofran Birth Defects Lawsuit Centerwebsite. The website provides comprehensive information on Zofran lawsuits for birth defect claims, including an overview of existing research on the link between Zofran and particular birth defects. The Onder Law Firm is respected nationwide for its superior work in family safety and product liability law and is now providing free, no-obligation Zofran case review for birth defects claims.

Zofran is a product of GlaxoSmithKline that is approved by the FDA to reduce nausea and vomiting from chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery. While never approved by the FDA for pregnant women, Zofran has also been widely prescribed to alleviate morning sickness, with 110,000 prescriptions issued to pregnant women each month in 2013. According to the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, "there is no reason for women to be exposed to a drug of unproven maternal and fetal safety", in reference to Zofran. Product liability attorneys at the Onder Law Firm believe that women and families whose babies were born with a birth defect following exposure to Zofran may have legal grounds to file a Zofran lawsuit.

As outlined in great detail on the new Zofran Birth Defects Lawsuit website, four studies comprise the bulk of the body of research on Zofran‘s effect on a growing fetus. The two most prominent originate from Danish birth records and provide opposing information. One, "Ondansetron use in early pregnancy and the risk of congenital malformations - a register based nationwide cohort study", which was published by a group of physicians and researchers in Denmark in August of 2013, concluded that first trimester exposure to Zofran resulted in as much as a two-fold increase in the risk of developing particular birth defects. Another study published earlier that year in the New England Journal of Medicine found no connection between Zofran use by pregnant mothers and an increase in birth defects in babies.

The two studies utilized the same Danish birth records, but the New England Journal of Medicine study examined a much shorter span of time (2004 - 2011 versus 1997 - 2010), and many of the mothers participating in the study who took Zofran had taken in later in their pregnancy, with an average exposure of week 10, according to the study. Major birth defects that the more comprehensive study linked to Zofran, such as congenital heart defects and physical deformities, are only a risk prior to week 10 of a pregnancy. The more comprehensive study, which examined women who took Zofran early in their pregnancy, is the research that shows the strongest link between fetal Zofran exposure and birth defects.

The Onder Law Firm‘s Zofran attorneys are now offering a confidential case evaluation at no charge for persons and families whose baby was born with a birth defect following prenatal exposure to Zofran. Individuals who fit this description may contact a lawyer through the firm‘s website for a no-obligation consultation on whether they have grounds for a Zofran lawsuit. The firm‘s Zofran lawyers believe persons who meet this description may be entitled to real compensation for the harm and damages they sustained while the makers and manufacturers of Zofran benefited from their business. The Onder Law Firm welcomes Zofran case inquiries from law firms in regards to handling them or working as co-counsel.
