American Honda Recalls Foreman ATVs Due to Crash Hazard (Recall Alert)

Product: All-Terrain Vehicles (ATVs)
Hazard: The ATV’s steering shaft can break unexpectedly and cause the rider to lose steering control and crash. This poses a risk of injury or death to riders.
Injuries: Honda has received 18 reports of the ATV’s steering shaft breaking, including two in which the riders were involved in a crash. No injuries have been reported.
Description: This recall involves four-wheel drive 2012 and 2013 Honda FourTrax TRX500 Foreman ATV models FE and FM. The ATVs are red, green or camouflage and have “Honda” on both sides of the fuel tank and “Foreman” on the front cowl below the handlebars and on the left rear fender. The model number is on the left front frame down pipe above the driver’s left-hand side front wheel. The following VIN ranges are included in the recall.
Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled ATVs and contact a Honda ATV dealer to schedule a free repair. American Honda is contacting its customers directly.
Sold At: Honda ATV dealers nationwide from May 2011 through September 2013 for between $6,900 and $7,900.
