Heartburn and acid reflux may also signal that a person is not getting enough exercise

Thursday, June 3, 2021 - Over 60 million people around the world suffer at one time or another from heartburn and acid reflux symptoms of a burning sensation deep in the chest. Unfortunately, most of them reach for a quick fix in the form of an over-the-counter heartburn medicine like Tums, Rolaids, or Alka-Seltzer. Those with severe heartburn take H2 Antagonist medicine like Zantac 360 or PPI drugs like Prilosec. None of the above medicines should be considered a healthy choice and taking them may have side effects worse than the heartburn pain they sought to alleviate. Failing to control acid reflux back up into the esophagus could lead to esophageal or throat cancer. If heartburn pain persists it may be the sign of a more serious problem such as chronic overeating, eating the wrong foods, or living an excessively stressful lifestyle. Heartburn may be the body‘s natural signal that you are eating the wrong foods or eating too much. Taking antacid medicines may promote unhealthy overeating and could lead to many types of cancer, heart disease, or obesity. Heartburn and acid reflux may also signal that a person is not getting enough exercise. Visit Zantac antacid cancer lawsuit to learn more.

A new article published the other day in the Union Leader.com and written by famous TV doctors Mehmet Oz and Michael Roisen, examines a Harvard study that links a basic form of exercise with eliminating heartburn and acid reflux disease. The doctors tell us, "Researchers from Harvard University have figured out that exercise clears out stomach acid that causes troubling heartburn symptoms, such as a burning sensation in your esophagus or chest, a bitter or acidic taste in your mouth, and pain that gets worse when you lie down." The doctors also warn that it is better to eliminate certain things you eat and drink like caffeine drinks, smoking, and spicy foods. If one eliminates H2-A and PPI medicines, they will also eliminate the drugs‘ potential side effects of "pneumonia, kidney disease, vitamin B12 deficiency and bone fractures to dementia," according to the Drs. Simply walking works out over half of the body‘s major muscles and increases blood oxygenation. Walking briskly helps increase cardiovascular capacity and improve blood pressure. Outdoor walking shortly after sunrise will expose one to vitamin D from the sunlight.

One of the best things about starting a walking regimen is how easy it is to get started. No special equipment or gym membership is required. Just set your iPhone timer to 10 minutes and go in a straight line in one direction at a comfortable pace. When the timer sounds, turn around and comes home. A walker should increase by 2 minutes per day until you are walking for an hour per day. You can also make productive use of your exercise time by using your iPhone to listen to the podcast of your choice.
